September 2025 Housing Report

September 2025 Housing Report

Each month Minnesota Realtors puts out a report for the last months housing report sharing stats and updates! The September Housing Report is out and ready for your consumption.

With Halloween only days away and the 4th quarter staring everyone down, the final push to the end of the year has begun. Overall, 2025 has felt like a blur and based on how things are shaping up, I am not expecting these final months to be any different.

Keeping that as our backdrop and getting right to it, the September Housing Report was released late last week over MEA. Take a gander at the snapshot below, read the quick blog here, or deep dive the always riveting numbers at your leisure.

If you do happen to click the blog, you will quickly notice that the hot topics remain the same. Although inventory and our always popular affordability are mentioned, rates are hands down the #1 discussion point across the industry. The softening has been welcomed and the chatter about future weakness is giving optimism to those targeting a move. That being said, I want to take this space to expand on what will be your tip of the month because from now until the end of the year is a valuable opportunity. DO NOT sit on your hands and wait for the spring market to come to you. If rates remain on this downward trajectory, I am only assuming this spring is going to be chaos. I don’t foresee the insane pandemic days returning, but if you are in a highly competitive space (first time buyer, crowded move up buyer price points, etc.), I would imagine that will get amplified even further once our busiest season hits.

To be clear, this absolutely is not saying you need to go buy something tomorrow. Especially for those that have a place to sell, there is some major strategic planning that needs to take place before executing anything. However, I am simply saying to get out and start shopping now because if you do stumble across a gem, your competition will be subdued (which can no joke save you A TON of money) and your experience overall will be far more enjoyable. Also, as an additional tidbit, mentally prepare for inventory in general to slowly dwindle over the next few months. And I promise…there will be more houses to come after that happens.

Have a fantastic Halloween next week and I look forward to connecting again next month. As always, feel free to reach out if you have any custom or situational questions!
